BASTAD, Sweden - Casper Ruud has defeated Andrey Rublev in a thrilling three-set round-robin match at the ATP Finals. The Norwegian triumphed with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, securing a spot in the tournament final.
The match began with both players trading blows from the baseline, but it was Ruud who struck first. The 24-year-old broke Rublev's serve in the third game and held his own to take an early 3-1 lead. Rublev fought back to tie the set at 4-4, but Ruud's consistency proved too much. The set culminated in a gripping tiebreak, which Ruud ultimately won 7-5.
The second set saw a resurgent Rublev. The Russian broke Ruud's serve twice and played with renewed determination. Despite a valiant effort from Ruud, Rublev claimed the set comfortably, 6-3.
